Herbs have been used for centuries and are known for their natural properties that are beneficial to the skin. From vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants to treating a variety of skin conditions, herbs provide tons of benefits for healthy, glowing skin.
Herbs are overflowing with vitamins and minerals that are essential for healthy skin. See why we named our company this? Many antioxidants found in herbs help protect the skin from damage caused by environmental pollutants, sun exposure, and stress. Also, certain herbs can be used topically to treat acne, eczema, psoriasis, and other common skin conditions.
Some of our favorites (and commonly found in our products) are: Rosemary, Chamomile, Lavender, and Calendula.
These are four of the most popular herbs used in skin care due to their natural antioxidant content and healing properties. Additionally, they are known for their antiseptic properties that make them great for treating acne breakouts or other minor infections on the skin.
Rosemary contains rosmarinic acid, which helps reduce inflammation while also providing a layer of protection against sunburn. Rosemary is also known for its antibacterial/antiviral properties, and is a common ingredient in natural soaps (including ours, like new Spring Revival).
Another common herb we use is chamomile. Chamomile is another potent antioxidant that has anti-inflammatory properties that help soothe redness and irritation associated with sensitive or inflamed skin. This tip is particularly useful when handling a sunburn or when dealing with any kind of rash or skin irritation. Chamomile can assist in reducing the inflammation caused by teething, growing pains, and so much more! Try a refreshing soak in our Relaxation Bath Tea.
Some herbs also contain natural antiseptic and anti-fungal properties that can help speed up healing processes. Lavender is one of those herbs and is also a topical analgesic. If there is a skin affliction that is painful, lavender has been known to help bring relief and healing to the area. Included would be things like mild burns, sunburn, painful rash, eczema, psoriasis. Suds up with our soothing Lavender Bar Soap and indulge your skin with our Tea Tree and Lavender Body Butter.
Similarly, calendula has been traditionally used to speed up wound healing. Due to its anti-inflammatory properties and its ability to prevent scarring, using calendula can bring relief and aid the healing process. These herbs can effectively be used in their dried state, enveloped inside a hot, very damp cloth, and used as a poultice on an area of concern. Herbal baths using these are also very effective. Give our rejuvenating Herbal Bath Tea a try!
By incorporating herbs into your daily skin care routine, you won't have to rely on chemical-based products that may irritate your sensitive skin. Herbs offer a safe yet efficient way of taking care of your skin without sacrificing performance or quality results!
